G. Northey Consulting

Gavin Northey delivers child nutrition consulting and training services drawn from over 21 years of experience in child nutrition programs and institutional food service. Gavin’s experience ranges from operations, finance, administration, policy and regulation, as well as food safety and sanitation. Gavin’s food service career began in Alaska where he spent over 20 years in progressive operational, management, and administrative roles.

As Alaska’s Child Nutrition Program Manager, Gavin oversaw child nutrition programs in the most remote locations in America. Alaska’s child nutrition programs are delivered in communities far and wide in Alaska including some that have no road access, seasonal maritime service, and limited flight capacity via small aircraft.

Gavin continues his commitment to ensure that all children have equitable access to school and child nutrition programs with a particular emphasis on delivering training and consulting services targeted toward small and medium size states, School Nutrition Association affiliates, and other organizations that prepare child nutrition directors and managers to deliver exceptional service.

Why Invest in Financial Management and Procurement Training

Financial management and procurement are the bane of many program directors’ and managers’ existence. Complicated regulations are meant to ensure fair, open, and transparent procurement and to set the highest standards for public spending. Often times, these same regulations create a complicated web of requirements and nuance for program directors and managers who are understaffed and overwhelmed.

Gavin delivers clear and down-to-earth explanation of the Uniform Grant Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and its procurement regulations, tying them into U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations for child nutrition programs.

The training includes detailed references to the Uniform Grant Guidance and Child Nutrition Program regulations, statutes, and policy memos so that viewers that desire to take a deeper dive can follow-up via the citations.
